Before Crisis contre-attaque
Vous vous souvenez de quand la sortie de la bande originale de Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- a été décalée en février dernier, puis encore une fois en mai ? Eh bien, Square Enix a finalement décidé de la publier, le 19 décembre. On dirait qu'ils attendaient de voir si les deux grosses sorties d'Ishimoto, Subarashiki Kono Sekai et Crisis Core, se vendaient bien. On dirait que ça a été le cas, vu que c'est enfin le tour de Before Crisis. L'album proposera également des musiques de Last Order, l'OAV présent dans les éditions limitées d'Advent Children, ainsi qu'un remix de "Rebirth", une piste de Before Crisis, dont je vous propose d'écouter la version originale :

J'ai Wii dire...
Square Enix développe actuellement trois nouveaux jeux sur la Wii de Nintendo, et nous savons déjà certains détails sur leurs équipes sonores. Le premier jeu, et sans doute le plus attendu, est Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. Hidenori Iwasaki a récemment annoncé qu'il allait en écrire la musique, ce qui est une bonne nouvelle car nous n'avons pas beaucoup entendu parler de lui depuis Front Mission Online. Cela dit, il ne travaille peut-être pas seul.

Mais pour le moment, sa chère collaboratrice Kumi Tanioka est à l'oeuvre sur le deuxième jeu Wii, 小さな王様と約束の国 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Chiisana Ôsama to Yakusoku no Kuni, "le petit roi et le pays promis"). Il s'agit en fait d'un WiiWare, donc mieux vaut ne pas en attendre trop. Vous pouvez écouter un extrait en regardant cette vidéo.

Enfin, Square Enix réalise un nouveau jeu Chocobo pour Wii, intitulé チョコボの不思議なダンジョン 時忘れの迷宮 (Chocobo's Dungeon: Toki-Wasure no Meikyuu, "le labyrinthe du temps oublié"). Cela n'a pas encore été confirmé, mais il est presque sûr que c'est le studio JOE DOWN, basé à Hokkaido, qui s'occupe de la bande originale, tout comme avec Chocobo Tales l'année dernière. Il y a quelques extraits dans la partie "Music" du site officiel. Deux reprises de Final Fantasy III, une de FFIV... Rien de bien nouveau, pour changer. Le jeu aura sa chanson thème, "Door Crawl", interprété par la chanteuse japonaise Ai Kawashima. Son prochain single sort le 12 décembre.

Final Fantasy Academy
Final Fantasy IV arrive sur DS le mois prochain, mais la bande originale est attendue pour le 30 janvier. Pour attendre jusque là, nous aurons le single de la nouvelle chanson thème, un arrangement du "Theme of Love" original intitulé 月の明り (tsuki no akari, "la lumière de la lune") et interprété par Megumi Ida (伊田恵美). Pas question de chanteuse de j-pop, car elle a été choisie par Nobuo Uematsu et Takashi Tokita, le réalisateur du jeu, suite à un casting. Voici un extrait du clip :


Comme vous pouvez le voir, Kenichiro Fukui est au piano. C'est qu'en fait, c'est lui qui a arrangé la chanson. Je me permets d'ajouter que je trouve la voix de Megumi Ida vraiment belle, elle est douce sans être trop aiguë. En tout cas, elle peut être reconnaissante envers Uematsu et Tokita, vu que c'est sans doute le début de sa carrière ! Le single, qui contiendra également deux versions du "Theme of Love" (SNES et DS), sortira le 5 décembre chez BMG Japan.

Lord of Vermilion
C'est le nom du nouveau jeu d'action de Square Enix sur Arcade. Il s'offre une équipe artistique assez incroyable (parmi eux, Yoshitaka Amano), mais aussi un gros nom pour son département sonore : Nobuo Uematsu. Nous n'avons actuellement que peu de détails sur sa participation à ce projet, mais nous devrions en apprendre davantage dans les prochaines semaines.

Mitsuto Suzuki et son jardin
"IN MY OWN BACKYARD" (dans mon propre jardin) est le nom de l'album solo de Mitsuto Suzuki, que Square Enix va publier très prochainement, mais uniquement sur iTunes. 4 des 10 pistes viennent des Official Bootlegs ("Split", "Clear", "Common note" and "Jack yourself"), mais les 6 autres en sont très proche du point de vue du style, c'est-à-dire... de la musique électronique très douce. Si vous aimez l'approche contemplative de Suzuki, je vous conseille de jeter un oeil à la page web de l'album pour y apprécier les extraits. Cliquez sur les moutons pour les écouter. Oh, et vous avez remarqué que l'un des commentaires (le mouton de gauche) est signé Akira Yamaoka ? Oui, Akira Yamaoka lui-même. Ah oui, je me souviens, Suzuki a travaillé pour Konami avant de passer chez Square Enix...

Before Crisis strikes back
Remember how Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- got its soundtrack release postponed in February, and then in May? Well, Square Enix eventually decided to release it on December 19. It seems they were waiting to see if Ishimoto's big soundtracks, Subarashiki Kono Sekai and Crisis Core, sold well. Apparently, they did well enough to stop postponing Before Crisis. The album will also feature music from Last Order, the OAV included in Advent Children's limited editions, along with a remix of "Rebirth", a theme from Before Crisis. Three for Wii
Square Enix is currently working on three new games for the Nintendo Wii, and we already know a few things about their sound teams. The first game, and probably the most anticipated, is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. While there is no official confirmation, it is almost certain that Hokkaido-based studio JOE DOWN is working on the soundtrack, as they did with Chocobo Tales last year. There are some samples in the "Music" section of the official website. Two remixes from Final Fantasy III, one from FFIV... Nothing really new, for a change. The game will have a theme song, "Door Crawl", performed by Japanese singer Ai Kawashima. Her new single is to be released on December 12.

Final Fantasy Academy
Final Fantasy IV is coming to DS next month, but the soundtrack is scheduled for a January 30 release. The only thing we will get in order to wait until that day is the single for the new theme song, an arrangement of the original "Theme of Love" entitled 月の明り (tsuki no akari, "the light of the moon") performed by Megumi Ida (伊田恵美). She is no j-pop idol, because she was selected by Nobuo Uematsu and game director Takashi Tokita through a casting. Here is a sample from the clip:


As you can see, Kenichiro Fukui is playing the piano. Actually, he is the arranger of the song. Permet me to add that I think Megumi Ida's voice is really beautiful, soft yet not too shrill. Well, now she owes Uematsu and Tokita one, since it may be the beginning of her career! The single, which will also contain two versions of the "Theme of Love" (SNES and DS), is to be released on December 5 by BMG Japan.

Lord of Vermilion
This is the name of Square Enix's newly-announced Arcade action game. Featuring an incredible artistic team -- among which is Yoshitaka Amano, this title will also have a big name in its sound department: Nobuo Uematsu. Details are still scarce at the present moment concerning his participation to the project, but we will probably learn more in the upcoming weeks.

Mitsuto Suzuki takes us to his backyard
Yes, to his own backyard, to be more precise. "IN MY OWN BACKYARD" is the name of Mitsuto Suzuki's solo album, which is about to be published by Square Enix, but only through iTunes. 4 of the 10 tracks come from the Official Bootlegs ("Split", "Clear", "Common note" and "Jack yourself"), but the 6 others are very close to them in style, that is to say... very soft electronic music. If you enjoy Suzuki's contemplative approach, then I suggest you take a look at the webpage for the album and enjoy the samples. Click on the sheeps to listen to them. Oh, and did you notice that one comment -- the sheep on the left -- comes from Akira Yamaoka? Yes, THE Akira Yamaoka.
